Dans le Sud

A portrait of the emerging French drill scene in Béziers, southern France. What started with a chance encounter at the Fête de la Musique — a conversation in broken French with artist Obi Kingz — grew into an intimate document of a tight-knit community of young musicians finding their voice in a town with a complicated political backdrop. Shot on medium format film, the series follows the group in their everyday: gathered on the block, freestyling, hanging out. An honest look at a generation of hardworking artists helping put French drill on the map.
